The contest is held on a team knockout basis, divided into four groups (each grouping 20-odd units). Taking part in the contest are at least 1,000 officials, among them leading party and administration officials of each unit.

The game is to be decided with the results in men's and women's singles and mixed and men's doubles.

The winners in the first-day competition of the contest held on Monday included the State Planning Commission, the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of External Economic Relations, the Taesong Guidance Bureau, the Guidance Bureau of Sericulture and Silk Industry, the Workers' Party of Korea Publishing House, the Grand People's Study House and the newspaper Chongnyon Jonwi.

The contest will last until November 20.
