Jong Yong Nam, vice-chairman of the C.C., the Nature Conservation Union of Korea, made an opening address.

He said that Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il paid deep attention to the land management all their lives and worked heart and soul to give face-lifting to the mountains and rivers of the country.

Supreme leader Kim Jong Un published the work "On Effecting a Drastic Turn in Land Management to Meet the Requirements for Building a Thriving Socialist Nation", providing important guidelines for turning the country into a thriving socialist nation and the people's paradise, he noted.

He called upon all scientists and technicians to give full play to Kim Jong Il's patriotism, successfully settle the scientific and technological issues arising in the land management and environment protection and thus positively contribute to building an economic power and highly civilized nation and improving the standard of people's living.

The participants heard dozens of papers for settling scientific and technological issues arising in turning the whole country into thick woodland, greenery and orchards, putting land protection, afforestation, road and river and stream improvement on a scientific and modern basis and preventing the pollution of air and contamination of water.
