Protest against Regime's Move to Forcibly Dissolve Opposition Party Mounts in S. Korea

Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- The movement for a declaration on the prevailing situation is gaining in scope and strength in south Korea in protest against the regime's move to forcibly dissolve the Unified Progressive Party. Members of civic and public bodies grouping people of all social strata in South Jolla Province, including the South Jolla Provincial Solidarity for Progress, the Joint Council of Civic and Public Organizations of South Jolla Province, the Kwangju-South Jolla Provincial Association of the Federation of Peasants Associations, the Kwangju Headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions, held a press conference outside the building of the provincial office on Nov. 17. They underlined the need to fight the present regime hell-bent on forcibly dissolving the opposition party. Proposing a movement for a declaration on the prevailing situation involving 10,000 people in protest against the regime's move, they called upon the people from all walks of life in the province to turn out in actions. Civic and public organizations and members of the opposition party in the area of Kwangju also held a press conference on Nov. 18 and published a declaration on the prevailing situation. |
