Child Health Day Marked in DPRK

Pyongyang, November 21 (KCNA) -- An event took place at Okryu Children's Hospital Friday to mark the Child Health Day. Present at the event were Kim Hyong Hun, vice-minister of Public Health who is chairman of the Korean Association for Supporting the Children, members of the association, officials of scientific and public health fields, Stephan Paul Jost, representative of the WHO in the DPRK, and representatives of other international organizations and staff members of their missions and staff members of foreign embassies here. A speech was followed by the international seminar on child health and meeting for swapping experience. Speakers explained in detail the issues arising in the work for child health including child-protecting system in the DPRK, successes and experience gained in protecting babies health and nursing, problems to be solved by the Korean Association for Supporting the Children and its long-term plan. They said that the DPRK government considered it as an important one related to the future destiny of the revolution to bring up well the children, the future of the country, and has paid deep attention to the work. The participants looked round photos showing health service and child health protection in the DPRK, successes made in implementing the preventive medicine policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and cooperation with missions of international organizations here. A performance was given by children of baby homes and kindergartens at the event. |
