WPK Supported by Participants in International Meeting
Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The 16th international meeting of communist parties and workers' parties took place in Ecuador from Nov. 13 to 15.

Present there were delegations of the communist parties and workers' parties of more than 40 countries including the DPRK, Ecuador and Cuba.

Speeches were made there.

The head of the Peruvian delegation referred to the fact that the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) has firmly maintained the socialist principle in party building and activities and pursued the independent line and policies in keeping with the specific conditions and reality of Korea.

He called upon all communist parties and workers' parties to positively follow the experience of the WPK, highly appreciating that it has played a vanguard role in the anti-U.S. struggle.

Speakers including the heads of the delegations of Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil and Australia expressed support and solidarity with the WPK and the Korean people in their struggle for opposing imperialism and building socialism and called for stronger support for the principled efforts of the WPK which is invariably upholding the banner of socialism.

Noting that the imperialists' sanctions and pressure on the DPRK and Cuba are the vivid reflection of the scheme of hostile forces to undermine socialism, they denounced the U.S. imperialists for their moves against socialism.

They underscored the need for all communist parties and workers' parties to strictly adhere to the anti-imperialist and class principles and boost support, cooperation and solidarity in the struggle for socialist construction.

An appeal concerning the memorial service for leader Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

It called on all communist parties, workers' parties and the progressive political parties to honor in humblest reverence the memory of Kim Jong Il who made contributions to accomplishing the world socialist cause and human cause of independence, lauding his exploits.
