Especially, the Korean nation made many inventions well-known over the world, including Chomsongdae (Astronomical Observatory), metal type, iron-clad turtle ship and iron-made rain gauge.

Chomsongdae built in the first half of the 7th century is the oldest among the remains of astronomical observatories in the world.

The metal type, believed to be invented for printing in the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392), gives a glimpse of high metal casting and working skill of the Korean nation.

The Korean nation built Turtle Ship, an iron-clad warship, in the 16th century for the first time in the history of the world and invented the iron-made rain gauge in 1441, nearly 200 years earlier than Europeans.
