UN Urged to Maintain Impartiality

Pyongyang, November 28 (KCNA) -- At present, the impartiality vital to the United Nations is getting faded in its arena as the days go by, due to the anti-DPRK "human rights" campaign kicked up by the U.S. and its followers, said Ri Kyong Chol, a section chief of the Law Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences of the DPRK, when interviewed by KCNA. The "resolution on human rights situation" in the DPRK railroaded through the UN by the U.S. and its followers was prompted by their sinister intention to stifle the DPRK, Ri said, adding: The adoption of the anti-DPRK resolution has brought on the UN only disgrace that it dances to the tune of the U.S. As for the UN, it assumes a mission to make contribution to safeguarding global peace and security and establishing fair international relations. But 70 year-long history of the UN is stained with dishonest wrongdoings as it has served as a mechanism for realizing the U.S. supremacy over the world. It has kept mum about the arbitrary and high-handed practices of the U.S. In the 1950s, the U.S. provoked the Korean War by usurping the UN flag. Under this flag, the U.S. invaded Vietnam, Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Grenada, Panama and other countries of the world. As a result, the illegal state-sponsored terrorism like "color revolution" committed by the U.S. in different parts of the world is finding its legal foundation in the international arena. It has been clearly proved through the adoption of the anti-DPRK "human rights resolution" that the sacred UN Charter has been reduced into a dead document by the U.S. arbitrary and high-handed practices. The adoption of the "resolution", bereft of impartiality and equity of the UN, will only force the DPRK to further strengthen its self-defensive war deterrent to defend the sovereignty and dignity of the country and nation. |
