The letter said Kim Jong Il's life was the brilliant one of a revolutionary who firmly defended the revolution and socialism, upholding the red flag in the period when the world socialist movement suffered a stern trial.

It praised him as the noblest patriot who devoted his all to the development of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), the happiness of the Korean people and the building of a thriving nation without a moment's rest.

Under his leadership the WPK developed into the revolutionary party of Juche type dynamically steering the revolution and construction, the letter said, and went on:

By pursuing the unique Songun politics he defended socialist idea and turned the DPRK into a political and military power, supporting and encouraging the world progressive people.

His noble life and revolutionary exploits will be conveyed to posterity and his image will shine forever along with the development of the WPK and the victorious advance of the human cause of independence.
