A ceremony of unveiling the statues was held on Saturday on the Day of Airmen.

Present there were Hwang Pyong So, Ri Yong Gil and other commanding officers of the KPA, service personnel of the Air and Anti-Air Force, employees, servicemen's families and officials and those of meritorious service of units which contributed to erecting the statues.

The statues were unveiled by leading officials of the army and commanding officers of the Air and Anti-Air Force.

Placed before the statues were a floral basket in the name of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the KPA.

Also laid before them were floral baskets in the joint name of the Central Committee of the WPK, the Central Military Commission of the WPK and the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and in the name of the Air and Anti-Air Force.

Laid before the statues were floral baskets in the name of the KPA General Political Bureau, the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the KPA General Staff, units at all levels of the Air and Anti-Air Force and units associated with the leadership feats of the commanders of Mt. Paektu.

All the participants paid tribute to the peerless great men in humble reverence.

KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So, director of the KPA General Political Bureau, made an unveiling address.

Kim Il Sung, the founding father of the army, very busy as he was with the work to build the party, state and army right after the liberation of Korea, created the air force before anything else with his clairvoyant wisdom and extraordinary farsightedness and clearly indicated the way to be followed by it in each period and at each stage of the developing revolution, the speaker said.

In the whole period of leading the Songun revolution Kim Jong Il made indefatigable efforts and journeys of devoted service to develop the Air and Anti-Air Force into the one strongest in idea and faith and invincible combat ranks, he noted.

He called for more dynamically advancing to win the final victory of the Songun revolution under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, the eternal banner of victory of the great Paektusan nation, as befitting the descendants of Kim Il Sung and soldiers and disciples of Kim Jong Il.

The participants were being briefed on the statues before going round them.
