The Korean eight beauty spots include Mts. Paektu, Kumgang and Myohyang, Pyongyang area and Pujon Plateaus, said Jo Tae Il, a researcher of the Folklore Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences of the DPRK.

The eight beauty spots in the northwestern part of Korea are Ryongwang Pavilion in Pyongyang, Inphung Pavilion in Kanggye, Thonggun Pavilion in Uiju, Tongrim Falls, Paeksang Pavilion in Anju, Kangson Pavilion in Songchon, Yaksandongdae in Nyongbyon and Segom Pavilion in Manpho.

Among the eight scenic spots in the northeastern part of Korea are Lagoon Samil in Kosong County and Chongsokjong, a bluff dense with hexagonal or octagonal rock pillars, in the coastal area of Thongchon County.

In the present Songun (military-first) era, the Korean people have witnessed new scenic beauties like Sunrise on Mt. Paektu, Sea of Potato Flowers at Taehongdan, Resounding Ullim Falls and Sea of Apples at Foot of Chol Pass.
