In January he gave the year's first field guidance to the base for producing glass bottles newly built in Nampho City despite the biting cold in midwinter. Later he provided field guidance to many units including factories in North Phyongan Province, foodstuff factories in Sariwon City and major enterprises in Hamhung City.

In February he visited a machine factory and in March he gave field guidance to the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and Pyongyang Floriculture Institute.

In April he visited workers in Jagang Province and reposed great trust in them, calling on them to stand in the van of the drive in the age of knowledge-based industry as befitting the creators of the Kanggye spirit. In October he again visited various factories in the province, declaring that the country's machine-building industry reached the level of cutting-edge science and technology.

He visited factories and enterprises in Hamhung City and was greatly pleased with the start of the production of varieties of vinalon cloth and the creation of fresh wealth that can bring about a turn in building a thriving nation and improving the people's living standard.

He met workers of the Ryongsong Machine Complex and visited the construction sites for realizing the gasification process at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex several times. He also gave field guidance to the construction site of Tanchon Port, factories and enterprises in Tanchon area and various other units to make sure that a strong wind of the drive for making a leap forward was raised in those units.

He visited a lot of units including light industry factories, fruit-producing bases in Pyongyang, Ryongjon and Toksong and other areas of the country and even a small production cooperative.

He gave important instructions for improving the people's living standard by developing the nation's light industry and improving commercial service while looking round the venue of the 2nd commodity exhibition at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1.

He visited the construction sites in Mansudae area to spruce up Pyongyang as a magnificent city and gave field guidance to the Central Tree Nursery to turn the country into a thick woodland and greenery.

The Mansudae Art Studio, the Central Zoo, the Amusement Park in Kaeson Youth Park, the Kwangbok Area Supermarket and others are associated with his devoted service.

Upon returning home, he provided field guidance to the construction site of the Huichon Power Station without having time to get relieved of the fatigue pent up during his long foreign trip. It was his forced march made in August despite sweltering weather to meet with dear people in the homeland.

As seen above, he paid ceaseless visits to defence posts, construction sites, farms and industrial establishments from January to December, 2011. This was a great march of devoted service unprecedented in history as he underwent indescribable hardships as a revolutionary and a human being.
