Guy Dupre, secretary general of the International Liaison Committee for Reunification and Peace in Korea, said this in a statement issued on Dec. 1 on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of Kim Jong Il's demise.

He said:

Kim Jong Il, a staunch guardian of the socialist cause, devoted his whole life to the building of a thriving nation and reunification in Korea and independence, peace and security of the world.

He developed and enriched the Juche idea and Songun idea, the guiding idea of the era of independence.

He also developed the Workers' Party of Korea into a powerful, revolutionary party and a dignified party leading the building of a thriving nation to victory, a party absolutely supported and trusted by the people.

He also trained the Korean People's Army as an invincible army and combat ranks reliably protecting the socialist motherland and people and the revolution.

He held higher the banner of Songun late in the last century when the Korean people faced the harshest ordeals because of the vicious moves of the imperialist allied forces to stifle the DPRK, thus bringing about a turning point in the building of a thriving nation.

He dedicated his all to the reunification of the country and the unity and prosperity of the nation.

He formulated the three principles of national reunification, the ten-point programme of the great unity of the whole nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo set forth by President Kim Il Sung as the three charters for national reunification.

He provided the north-south summit in June 2000 and made sure that the June 15 joint declaration, the landmark of Korea's reunification, was adopted.
