The Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for Supporting Peaceful Reunification of Korea called on the progressive bodies to form memorial committees and arrange memorial services to pay high tribute to him on the occasion of the first anniversary of his demise.

In hearty response to the call memorial committees having prominent personages as their chairpersons and co-chairpersons were formed at over 60 countries and international and regional bodies and since then they have conducted their activities in each continent, country and region.

All people expressed their fervent feelings to hold Kim Jong Il in high esteem.

The wax replica of Kim Jong Il depicting his image giving the service personnel and people of the DPRK his blessing, standing on the top of Mt. Paektu in simple jumper, was erected at the International Friendship Exhibition House.

The portraits of smiling Kim Jong Il were displayed at the Russia-DPRK friendship children joint classroom named after Kim Jong Il of Khabarovsk City Secondary School No. 11 of Russia, Kim Jong Il Class of "Gor King－Erdene" Institute of Teachers of Mongolia and Kim Jong Il Class of Progres School of Mali.

Those years witnessed the formation of the International Kim Jong Il Prize Council, the enactment and announcement of the International Kim Jong Il Prize, and the reorganization of the International Kim Il Sung Foundation into Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation.

A monument to Kim Jong Il Class was erected at primary school No. 2 in Kuwazana, Zimbabwe and recently a class of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Kindergarten was named after Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Il was presented with over 100 gifts by personages of different countries and international and regional bodies.

Immortal Kimjongilia has been widely cultivated and disseminated in different parts of the world.

Over 103,000 copies of Kim Jong Il's works were translated and published into more than 30 national languages by at least 270 political parties, bodies and institutions.

Newspapers, TV radios, magazines, bulletins and websites of different countries gave wide publicity to his brief biography, revolutionary career, feats and noble traits, accompanied with the portraits of smiling Kim Jong Il and his photos.
