Present there were Ho Jong Man, chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon) and other officials of Chongryon, Korean compatriots and students of Korean University.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il.

Ho Jong Man said in a memorial address that during the past three years Koreans in Japan keenly realized with each passing day how great the feats performed by Kim Jong Il all his life was.

He paid the highest tribute to Kim Jong Il in boundless reverence of all the officials of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan, wishing for his immortality, he said, adding:

Kim Jong Il defended Chongryon and Koreans in Japan and led the movement of Koreans in Japan in the new century to victory till the last moments of his great life. Therefore, he is immortal in their minds as the defender of their destiny and tender-hearted father.

The respected Marshal Kim Jong Un is the genius of creation and construction who has achieved victory in the continuous confrontation with the U.S. and its followers with his brilliant wisdom, outstanding political ability and bold pluck and wisely led the building of a socialist economic power and a highly civilized nation, translating the people's dream and ideal into a bright reality in the homeland.

Ho Jong Man called on all the Koreans in Japan to glorify the revolutionary life of Kim Jong Il and the immortal feats he performed for the movement of Koreans in Japan and dynamically advance to develop the patriotic movement of Chongryon under the leadership of Kim Jong Un as required by the glorious era of Kim Jong Un.

Speeches of representatives of different social standings were made at the meeting.

Memorial services took place at the Chongryon headquarters of Osaka, Hyogo, Aichi, Ibaraki, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Hokkaido on the same day.
