Rodong Sinmun Assails S. Korean Authorities for Forcibly Dissolving UPP
Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The present south Korean puppet authorities had persecuted and suppressed the Unified Progressive Party (UPP) on false charges of attempted rebellion after labeling it a "party following the north." They prodded what they called the "constitutional court" into deciding on its dissolution in just 30 minutes on Dec. 19. It, at the same time, deprived five lawmakers from the party of their membership of the "National Assembly."

Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a commentary observes in this regard:

The forcible disbanding of the UPP is a product of the present ruling forces' plot to justify their policy of confrontation with compatriots in the north and establish the fascist dictatorial system.

There is neither ground nor pretext to forcibly dissolve the UPP as its programme and activities are in line with the aspiration of the south Korean people and the trend of the times.

What matters is the fact that the south Korean puppet authorities are justifying the forcible dissolution of the UPP by linking it to the DPRK in a bid to totally stamp out the progressive democratic forces in south Korea, tide over its worst political crisis and further intensify its fascist dictatorial rule with the case as a momentum.

Herein lies the gravity of the situation.

The case reminds one of the spyring case cooked up by the "yusin" dictator in an effort to enforce his fascist repressive rule.

No one can vouch that this fascist dictatorship will not be enforced against other progressive parties.

History and the nation will brand those involved in hideous politically-motivated terrorism as the worst fascist gangsters and surely deal crushing sledge-hammer blows at them.
