The editorial recalled that the chief prosecutor threatened to counter any collective actions, including meetings and demos that are opposed to the decision of the "constitutional court" on disbandment of the Unified Progressive Party (UPP).

No sooner had conservative organizations filed a complaint with the prosecution against the members of the UPP on charges of the violation of "Security Law" than the prosecution started investigation into the party, the editorial said, adding:

People are becoming increasingly vocal expressing concern over the kick-off of wholesale "witch hunt." The forcible dissolution of the UPP proves that the regime feels very fretful.

Blackmailing can gag people for the time being but an unjust regime is bound to face a stern judgment of the people and meet a miserable end. This is a lesson taught by history.
