He provided the Songun idea. This occupies the most important and brilliant place in his Songun revolutionary exploits.

Thanks to his Songun idea the Juche-oriented course of the Korean revolution has remained unchanged even a bit for the past three years and neither difficulties nor ordeals could block its advance.

It was Kim Jong Il who made journeys of indefatigable Songun revolutionary leadership hard to find in the history of any great man, cherishing the revolutionary faith, grit and fighting spirit that victory should be won through generations.

Great unity between the army and people -- this was achieved thanks to his energetic leadership through which he set forth the revolutionary soldier spirit as symbol and representative of the Songun era, the new era of the Juche revolution, as required by the developing revolution, and led the whole society to follow the spirit.
