More Facts about Japanese Imperialists' Forcible Drafting of Koreans Disclosed

Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- The south Korean committee for surveying damage caused by forcible mobilization and for supporting victims of forcible mobilization abroad during the anti-Japanese resistance opened to public data proving the Japanese imperialists' forcible drafting of Koreans on Dec. 21, according to Seoul Sinmun of south Korea. It was reported that the data, the list of Koreans whom the Japanese imperialists had taken to Sakhalin, was worked out by the Japanese imperialist police and was taken from a professor of the University of Foreign Studies of south Korea who had once visited the State Sakhalin archives of Russia. Recorded in the data are the names of more than 6 200 Koreans who were taken to Sakhalin for compulsory labor and their domiciles, birth dates, features, characteristics, etc. Disclosing the data, a person concerned of the organization said that the number of Koreans who were taken to Sakhalin was estimated to be 30 000, and it is the first time that the list worked out by Japan was opened to public. |
