A ceremony of unveiling the statues took place Wednesday.

Present there were Hwang Pyong So, Hyon Yong Chol, Ri Yong Gil and other KPA commanding officers, service personnel and employees of the large combined unit, families of service personnel and officials of those units that contributed to the erection and persons of distinguished services.

Leading officials of the army and commanding officers of the large combined unit unveiled the statues.

The moment, the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, symbols of victory and glory of Songun Korea, appeared to shine in sunlight amid the thunderous shouts of "hurrah!" and release of balloons that brilliantly decorated the sky over the venue of the ceremony.

A floral basket in the name of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), first chairman of the National Defence Commission (NDC) of the DPRK and supreme commander of the KPA, was placed before the statues.

Also placed were floral baskets in the joint name of the Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the WPK and the NDC of the DPRK and in the name of Large Combined Unit 526 of the KPA.

Also laid were floral baskets in the name of the KPA General Political Bureau, the Ministry of the People's Armed Forces, the KPA General Staff, units at all levels under the large combined unit and units associated with the leadership feats of the peerless great men of Mt. Paektu.

The participants paid tribute to the statues in the humblest reverence.

KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So who is director of the KPA General Political Bureau, made an address.

He said Kim Il Sung personally organized the large combined unit during the grim period of war and dispatched anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters as commanding officers, making sure that the unit would be developed into combat ranks of a match-for-a hundred fighters who will emerge victorious in battles with any formidable enemies.

He said that Kim Jong Il provided energetic leadership to turn all posts into impregnable fortresses, while underscoring the crucial importance of the duty of the large combined unit.

The ardent desire of the service personnel of the unit to have the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il erected and to convey to posterity their leadership feats was realized thanks to Kim Jong Un, the speaker said.

He called for rallying closer around Kim Jong Un and working hard to bring earlier the day when the revolutionary cause of Songun that had been pushed forward by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il is brilliantly accomplished.

The participants looked round the statues after being briefed on them.
