In this regard, an official of the Ministry of Culture told KCNA that the contest was aimed at encouraging the singing of folk songs and playing of national instruments among people so as to make the national feelings and flavor prevail in the country.

The contest was held divided into three fields with the attendance of over 40 art squads and groups selected from commissions, ministries, national institutions and provinces.

They put on stage colorful numbers in diverse forms like vocal solo and chorus and instrumental solo and ensemble.

The art squad of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and the art groups of the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 took the first place in the contest.
