Kim Il Sung University produced good results in scientific researches for upgrading the nation's core technologies--applied sci-tech-- and stepping up the work to put the national economy on a Juche-oriented, modern and scientific basis.

The Pyongyang Agricultural College under the university rounded off the method of breeding and cultivating a high-yield strain of stevia and developed various kinds of measuring instruments for agriculture and effective vegetable insecticides.

Kim Chaek University of Technology automated and robotized the production and packing processes of the seasoning shop at the Pyongyang Essential Foodstuff Factory, introducing new electronic registers and automatic temperature controller. It also solved sci-tech problems for updating the production processes, establishing new processes and developing products at the Rangnang Disabled Soldiers' Essential Plastic Goods Factory, the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and other units.

Pyongyang University of Architecture settled sci-tech problems arising in carrying out various construction projects and made scientific achievements helpful to localizing the building fixtures.

Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering made a big progress in designing and manufacturing efficient machines to be used in the Sepho area stockbreeding base. It also contributed to updating Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill, Pyongyang Hosiery Factory and Songyo Ceramic Factory while putting the production processes at several foodstuff factories on an automated and unmanned basis.
