In the historic period spanning more than half a century since the victory of the revolution the heroic Cuban people have firmly defended and glorified the gains of the revolution and socialism despite the U.S. imperialists' and hostile forces' sanctions, blockade and threat of aggression under the leadership of the respected Comrade Fidel Castro Ruz and you.

We are glad to have such revolutionary comrades-in-arms as you in Latin America and will as ever extend full support and firm solidarity to the just cause of the Cuban people to defend sovereignty and dignity of the country and socialism.

Expressing great satisfaction over the fact that the friendly and cooperative relations of our two countries with a long history and tradition are developing invariably even under the complicated international situation, I wholeheartedly wish you fresh and bigger achievements in your responsible work of leading the fraternal Cuban party, government and people.
