A pig infected with the disease was discovered on a farm of Umsong, North Chungchong Province on Jan. 3 and pigs with symptom of the disease were discovered in Koesan.

The disease occurred in Andong and Uisong of North Kyongsang Province.

The disease was discovered at a pig farm house in Ryongin and a cow farm house in Ansong of Kyonggi Province on Jan. 5.

The foot-and-mouth disease has rapidly spread to 36 places of North and South Chungchong, Kyonggi and North Kyongsang provinces for a month since December 3 last year.

To make matters worse, damage by bird flu is on the increase.

Migratory birds infected with bird flu virus were discovered in Ryongin, Kyonggi Province on Jan. 3 and ducks with symptom of bird flu in a farm house in Muan of South Jolla Province.

KBS of south Korea said that there is uneasiness that the failure to prevent bird flu would cause calamities.
