Kim Jong Un in his New Year address referred to the idea of By Our Nation Itself, saying nothing is impossible if the Korean nation shares one purpose and joins efforts, the article said, and went on:

There is no reason why the north and the south should live separated while remaining hostile with each other because of their differing ideologies and systems.

One should not force its ideology and system upon the other but solve the reunification issue in conformity with the common interests of the nation.

For doing so, it is necessary to boost north-south exchange and cooperation.

Division has persisted on the Korean peninsula for 7 decades due to the U.S. policy of aggression and its hostile policy toward the DPRK.

The U.S. staged large-scale war drills every year together with the south Korean authorities, escalating tension on the Korean peninsula and bringing the danger of a nuclear war to the Korean nation.

It should desist from pursing the anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK and resorting to reckless war moves but make a bold policy switchover. The south Korean authorities should discontinue nuclear war drills in league with foreign forces.

All Koreans should achieve the great national unity in the idea of By Our Nation Itself so as to reunify the country independently and peacefully, the article said, calling upon all Koreans to join efforts to open up a broad avenue to independent reunification this year, the 70th anniversary of national liberation.
