Hessou Kohovi, chairman of the Benin-Korea Amicable Association "Long Live Kim Jong Il, Supreme Leader" who doubles as chairman of the Benin National Committee for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee decided to give wide publicity to the revolutionary career and exploits of Kim Jong Il and arrange diverse political and cultural events on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star (his birth anniversary).
