Ibrahim Mantu, member of the Credit Committee of the People's Democratic Party of Nigeria who is also chairman of the Nigeria-Korea Friendship Association, was elected chairman of the preparatory committee.

The preparatory committee decided to organize political and cultural events praising the revolutionary career and undying exploits of Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the Day of the Shining Star (his birth anniversary).

It also decided to give wide publicity to the achievements being made by the Korean people in their struggle for defending the sovereignty of the country and building a thriving nation under the wise guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un.
