On the anniversary all the young people of the DPRK recall with deep emotion the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who gave birth to the Juche-oriented youth movement and founded the mass youth organization and developed the youth league into the reliable political reserves of the party.

Kim Il Sung went among the young people in his early years and started his revolutionary activities by rallying the ranks of fighters. He created the unique idea of prioritizing youth and successfully implemented it during the whole period of leading the revolution.

He provided a precious tradition of the youth movement in the flames of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle. Right after the liberation of Korea he worked heart and soul to rally young people under the flag of democracy.

After laying a strong foundation of the mass youth organization, he founded the Democratic Youth League of Korea on January 17, Juche 35 (1946) and indicated bright ways for the youth league.

In May 1964 at the Fifth Congress of the Democratic Youth League of Korea he declared the renaming the organization the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea and devoted his tireless efforts to the work for developing the youth league into the powerful combat unit of the Korean revolution and reliable heir to the socialist cause.

Thanks to Kim Jong Il's outstanding leadership and particular care, the youth league had developed into the most vibrant unit of society.

He handed over the torch of the revolution to the youth and saw to it that the Youth Day was instituted and the League of Socialist Working Youth of Korea was renamed the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, and personally awarded the flag of the youth league bearing the image of the President.

He entrusted the task for important construction projects to the youth league and took deep care of it so that it might perform miracles and feats. He took such benevolent step of making sure that monumental edifices built by the young people had letters "youth" in their names.

Now the Korean youth movement has greeted a new heyday of its development under the wise leadership of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un.
