Pyongyang, January 16 (KCNA) -- A brisk drive for increased production of mushroom and greenhouse vegetables is now going on in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Production gains momentum on mushroom farms across the country. In particular, production upswing has been made on Jongbangsan and Haeju mushroom farms, which began to mass-produce various species of mushrooms in close cooperation with relevant institutes. Similar successes were also witnessed on mushroom farms in Nampho, Wonsan, Phyongsong and Hamhung cities. Meanwhile, many vegetable co-op farms in the country direct big efforts to operating their vegetable greenhouses at full capacity. Hwang Jong Ok, a sub-workteam head of the Chongsan Cooperative Farm in Kangso District, Nampho City, told KCNA: At least 70 tons of vegetables were harvested in four greenhouses only last year. Lots of the farm's families greatly benefit from mushroom farming. My family alone gathered more than one ton of mushroom last year. This year, too, my family will make bigger effort to mushroom farming. All peasants of the farm have turned out in a drive for increased production of mushroom and greenhouse vegetables in hearty response to supreme leader Kim Jong Un's New Year address that calls for an upturn in improving the people's living standard. |
