The contest is to be held on a knock-out basis till February 16, being divided into four groups. The participants will compete in basketball, volleyball, table-tennis, Taekwon-do and shooting events at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium and the Basketball Gymnasium and the Volleyball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street and the Meari Shooting Gallery.

Tug of war and other diverse sporting and amusement games will also take place to add to the atmosphere of the contest.

At the end of the opening ceremony there was a women's volleyball game between the teams of the State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Food and Consumer Goods Industries.
