Creation of Atmosphere for Improving Inter-Korean Relations Brooks Not Moment's Delay: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, January 23 (KCNA) -- The creation of an atmosphere for mending the inter-Korean relations is the work to be preceded without fail for improving the deteriorated north-south relations and laying a solid foundation for independent reunification. It also brooks not a moment's delay. Rodong Sinmun Friday says this in an article. A landmark turn in mending the inter-Korean relations depends on how the north and the south take the first step for creating the climate for repairing the relations, the article notes, and goes on: Ending the confrontation of social systems and war exercises is a prerequisite to creating the atmosphere for mending the inter-Korean relations and peaceful climate. It is quite useless for the north and the south to sit at a negotiating table while absolutizing their own ideologies and systems and seeking confrontation of social systems and war drills to do harm to the other side. This would only escalate distrust and conflict, far from solving complicated problems. The atmosphere for repairing the inter-Korean relations can be created only when the north and the south make joint efforts. If the south Korean authorities have a true stand to improve the relations with the north, there will be neither reason nor excuse to fail to respond to the positive call of the DPRK. What matters is whether they have willingness to mend the inter-Korean relations or not. Whether they stop the racket for confrontation of social systems and north-targeted joint military exercises or not is a touchstone distinguishing their will to mend the relations with the north. "Dialogue" and "sincerity" touted by them, sidestepping this issue, are no more than empty rhetoric. The prospect of the inter-Korean relations entirely depends on how the south Korean authorities respond to the patriotic call of the DPRK. |
