The statement said that Kim Jong Un in his address called for opening up a broad avenue to independent reunification by the concerted efforts of the entire nation this year which marks the 70th anniversary of Korea's liberation, thus commanding the admiration of the world. The statement went on:

He called for conducting brisk dialogue, negotiations, exchanges and contacts between the north and the south, re-linking the severed bonds and blood vessels of the nation and bringing about a great turn in the north-south relations.

He also said that the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government will strengthen in every way bonds and solidarity with the world progressives loving peace and aspiring after independence and justice and actively develop the good neighborly relations with all those countries that respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and are friendly toward it.

He also underscored the need to give definite priority to science and technology and bring about a turn in building a socialist economic giant and a highly civilized nation.

The army and people of the DPRK will surely achieve the final victory on all fronts of building a thriving nation under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.
