Jose Miguel Mejia, secretary general of the United Left Movement of Dominica, said this at an inaugural ceremony of the Dominican preparatory committee for celebrating the birth anniversary of Kim Jong Il (the Day of the Shining Star) on January 19.

He went on:

Kim Jong Il was a prominent and brilliant commander who defeated the U.S. imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK and led the struggle for defending the country to victory with the united efforts of the army and people of the DPRK.

He devoted all his life to defending the country and promoting people's welfare against imperialism.

Today the Korean people are invariably advancing along the road of independence against imperialism under the wise leadership of HE Kim Jong Un, another prominent great man.
