Improvement of North-South Ties Called for by S. Korean Organization

| Pyongyang, January 25 (KCNA) -- The Solidarity for Progress of south Korea held a meeting in Seoul on Jan. 21 at which it clarified its will to work hard for the improvement of the inter-Korean relations and the great national unity this year, the 70th anniversary of national division, according to Thongil News, a south Korean internet newspaper. At the meeting the speakers said people of all social standings in the south and the north and abroad should mark August 15 (Korea's liberation) together. They also said that they would conduct the movement for having the "May 24 steps" lifted and checking leaflets scattering operations in order to mend south-north relations. They called for making preparations for reunification and working out charters for the great national unity participated in by people, not monopolized by the "government". They evinced their will to intensify the movement for peace against war to oppose joint military exercises with the U.S. They called for forming a democratic front involving all forces standing against the present regime. |
