The Supreme Court of south Korea gave not guilty decision to the victims of the spyring case on Ullung Islet on January 26.

The Central Intelligence Agency of south Korea arrested and detained members of the North Kyongsang Provincial Committee of the Revolutionary Party for Reunification and its affiliated organizations on March 15, 1974 and made much fuss about "finding out the spy group of the north".

The victims and their family members strongly demanded a probe into the truth behind the case in appeal over the false charge. The court authorities were compelled to decide on retrial of the case in June 2013.

During the retrial the Seoul Central District Court and the Seoul High Court said that they were forcibly arrested by the investigation organ and illegally detained and forced to make false confession due to violence and threat. The court gave verdict of not guilty to the victims, declaring that statements wrested from them in such manner could not be evidence.

The Supreme Court also upheld the decision and the verdict of not guilty was decided.
