January 17 is the significant day, the 69th anniversary of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League.

President Kim Il Sung started his revolutionary activities by finding himself among young people in his early years and rallying them in the fighting rank. He founded the original idea of attaching importance to the young people and successfully embodied it in the whole period of his revolutionary leadership.

Right after the liberation of Korea he worked heart and soul to rally the broad young people as one under the flag of democracy.

After laying the firm foundation of the massive youth organization, he founded the Democratic Youth League and clarified the way to be followed by it.

The youth league became the most viable unit under the outstanding leadership and special care of leader Kim Jong Il.

He made sure that the Youth Day was instituted, gave the youth the torch of the revolution, saw to it that the youth league was renamed the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League and personally awarded the flag of the youth league bearing the image of the President.

He entrusted major projects to the youth league, took good care of it to perform miracles and feats and made sure that the monumental edifices built by the young people shine their rays together with the name of the "youth".
