The Seoul Central District Court sentenced the former senior vice-chairman of the TU and its three members to one year and six months in prison and the same term of suspension of qualifications on charges of violation of the fascist "Security Law" on January 23.

The Joint Measure Committee of the Teachers Union for Checking Suppression of Teachers under the Pretext of "Security" held a press conference in Seoul in protest against the unjust judgment of the court.

Speakers said that the authorities had already planned the case as part of the suppression of the TU.

They condemned the court for making a politically-motivated judgment, siding with the intelligence service and prosecution and studying the face of the "government".
