Efforts for Restoring Mountains in Provinces of DPRK

Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- A brisk campaign was launched in provinces of the DPRK to restore mountains of the country and turn them into "mountains of gold", in response to the call made by supreme leader Kim Jong Un in his New Year address.

Taking the lead in this nationwide campaign is South Hamgyong Province, which organized a powerful headquarters for guiding the campaign and worked out short-term and long-term plans for afforestation in a scientific way.

The province set it a goal for this year to plant 56 million trees of good species in mountains covering more than 18 000 hectares.

To hit this target, relevant officials of the province together with city and county officials have taken practical measures to cultivate more saplings at tree nurseries while paying efforts to perfecting the material and technical foundations of those nurseries.

Saplings of such good species as Pinus strobus and Larix lepolepis are now growing at tree nurseries built in cities and counties of the province.
