On display at the exhibition were 350 000 utensils and tools of more than 350 kinds, newly devised and manufactured or used by the Korean People's Army.

Saying that the exhibits are very spectacular, the Supreme Commander stressed the importance to prepare enough and various kinds of efficient utensils and tools and make an effective use of them in order to complete any labor-consuming construction project in a qualitative way in a fixed time under various conditions and circumstances. The utensils and tools are like a weapon to the soldier-builders, he added.

He underlined the need for the construction sector to steadily upgrade the utensils and tools so as to ensure the construction at a higher speed and more qualitatively with less manpower and materials while making work easy.

Now that our working class has had the experience of manufacturing various kinds of construction equipment and a solid industrial foundation was provided, it is quite possible to produce and supply advanced construction equipment and utensils and tools if they buckle down with a firm resolve, he said, urging the machine factories and construction units to conduct a vigorous drive for producing utensils and tools by their own efforts and newly devising them in a Korean way.

Then he looked round various kinds of building materials and fixtures and furniture produced at factories and enterprises under the KPA, such as toilet ware, different styles of concrete blocks, large tiles, iron and wire net fences, plastic tubes, benches and TV tables.

The displayed building materials, fixtures and furniture are rich in variety and high in quality, he said, stressing the need to strive to increase the ratio of localization of building materials according to the Party's policy.

He expressed expectation and belief that the KPA would register greater success in the work to provide the utensils and tools badly needed for the construction projects.
