Speakers said at the rally that this year marked the 15th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration, calling upon the people in the south and the north and abroad to join efforts for national reunification.

The present regime is excluding the non-governmental movement for reunification from the issues of reunification and south-north relations, they charged.

The June 15 joint declaration is a truly realistic great programme for reunification, they said.

In a resolution the organization said now is the time to make efforts to mend south-north relations. It went on:

We will continue the efforts to preserve and implement the July 4 joint statement, the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, agreements for reunification jointly made by the south and the north.

We will make all efforts to make sure that prerequisite steps are taken to halt the acts of slinging mud at each other and all military threats and improve south-north relations including the lifting of the "May 24 steps" and resumption of civilian exchange.

We will successfully hold events common to the nation, the gatherings for national reconciliation and peace, which had been suspended, on the occasions of June 15 and August 15 (Korea's liberation).
