Participants in Study Tour Visit Phophyong Revolutionary Site

Phophyong, February 4 (KCNA) -- Schoolchildren from across the country who participated in the study tour along the course of the 250-mile journey visited the Phophyong Revolutionary Site in Kim Hyong Jik County, Ryanggang Province on Wednesday. The study tour was sponsored on the occasions of the 90th anniversary of the 250-mile journey for national liberation made by President Kim Il Sung and the 40th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's organizing of the march along the course. There is at the revolutionary site the Phophyong Ferry which conveys the historic day when Kim Il Sung crossed the River Amnok, pledging not to return home unless Korea became independent. There are also the Monument to "Song of the River Amnok", Phophyong Church where Kim Hyong Jik, an outstanding leader of the Korean anti-Japanese national liberation movement, conducted his revolutionary activities and a night school room of Hamgyong Provincial house where Kang Pan Sok, an outstanding leader of the Korean women's movement, educated women. Exhibited at the revolutionary site are historic mementoes and data on the life of Kim Il Sung who embarked upon the road of revolution in his early years with a noble aim to achieve national liberation and the lives of the Mangyongdae family members who devoted their all to the sacred patriotic cause for the country and the nation. Meanwhile, the participants in the study tour enjoyed an art performance given by members of the art group of the Kim Song Ju Schoolchildren's Palace on the same day. |
