February 16 Science and Technology Prize Awarded to Persons of Merit in DPRK

| Pyongyang, February 10 (KCNA) -- February 16 Science and Technology Prize was awarded to the scientific research successes conducive to building an economic giant and improving the standard of people's living and persons of merit with the approach of the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il. The prize is the top science and technology prize in the DPRK. The prize was awarded to scientific research successes, including industrial production and application technology of multi-nutrients for rice seedlings, tele-education system "Risang", 1 000kw heating pump and asynchronous electric locomotive. The prize went to more than 180 scientists, technicians, teachers, and officials including Kim Il Nam, rector of Tele-education College under Kim Chaek University of Technology; Pak Son Hui, researcher at the Branch Academy of Light Industrial Science under the State Academy of Sciences; and Won Ung, chief engineer of the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex. A ceremony of awarding the prize took place at the People's Palace of Culture on Tuesday. |
