Rodong Sinmun Lays Bare Danger of U.S. Hegemony

Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. deputy secretary of Defence in a recent lecture at the New America Security Center in Washington called upon NATO member nations to invest more funds in developing new type weapons to cope with "threats" of Russia and China. Commenting on this, Rodong Sinmun Thursday terms this the U.S. official declaration of confrontation with these countries. The fiction about the non-existent "threat" from the DPRK the U.S. always puts on the table is aimed to conceal its real intention to beef up its forces with the fiction of "threat from north Korea" and calm down the caution of surrounding big powers, the commentary notes, and goes on: Referring to major big powers' increase of military capabilities this time, the U.S. called for coping with this. This clearly proves that its objective of beefing up its forces in the Asia-Pacific and various other parts of the world is designed to hold military hegemony in the international arena. The U.S. undisguised disclosure of its real intention to contain Russia and China by force is a revelation of its extreme impatience and uneasiness about the fact that its hegemonic position is sinking and its ambition for world supremacy is ending in smoke. The presence of the surrounding big powers is being steadily asserted while discontent and irritation at the change of the existing gradually enervating structure of international relations are heard from the U.S. The U.S. will make desperate efforts to bolster up military capability as it brought to light its attempt at military confrontation with Russia and China. Moscow and Beijing will do their best to protect their position, and stand-off of strength will further fester. |
