Ice Sculpture Festival Held in Mt. Paektu Area

Samjiyon, February 12 (KCNA) -- The ice sculpture festival celebrating the birth anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il is being held with splendor in Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province from Feb. 5. Soldiers of the division of the Ministry of People's Security of the Construction Shock Brigade 618 presented more than 1 000 ice sculptures to the festival. The festival has five themes including "Great Life of Fatherly General" and "Our National Heritage Protected by Fatherly General and Glorified by Respected Marshal". Peculiar and colorful ice sculptures present fantastic and mysterious sceneries. Seen in the center of the festival venue is a large ice sculpture "Ardent Wishes." It depicts Kim Jong Il's birthplace in the Paektusan Secret Camp and Jong Il Peak accompanying with the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il. It impressively deals with the noble loyalty of the Korean people to him. There are such ice sculptures as "Let's fight for the sake of our country and people even if we may die or live", "Declaration in February", "Just Give Us an Order" and "Tiger in Mt. Paektu". The festival venue has been splendidly decorated by exquisite and marvelous ice sculptures including a large festive lantern, crystal bridge and crystal cave and peculiar lightings. |
