Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The Simwon Temple is one of the ancient relics of the Korean nation with long history and brilliant culture. The temple, located in Sangyang-ri, Pakchon County, North Phyongan Province of the DPRK, was built in the 9th century and rebuilt in 1368. Preserved there are valuable historical relics showing the nation's art of painting and wood processing technique. When visiting the temple in February Juche 92 (2003), leader Kim Jong Il said that it is a pride of the nation to have many historical cultural relics everywhere in the country. Those relics, associated with Koreans' wisdom and talents, are the nation's precious cultural wealth, he said, advancing the detailed tasks for their preservation. Very busy as he was with Songun (military-first) guidance, he toured Anbul and Ryangchon temples and other historical sites to keep alive the fine national tradition. |
