S. Korean Regime's Suppression of Progressive Media under Fire

Pyongyang, February 13 (KCNA) -- The Media Committee of the south Korean Council of Christian Churches held a press conference at the Christian Hall in Seoul on Feb. 11 to denounce the puppet authorities for cracking down on progressive media, according to Jaju Minbo, an internet paper of south Korea.

A declaration on the inauguration of the media committee was read out at the press conference.

It deplored that south Korea is a society where truth and right media have disappeared.

Truth is twisted by those in power and media release biased and distorted reports, subject to power and capital, it charged.

It denounced the authorities for suppressing the media persons ready to discharge their duty in protest against injustice and for gagging the people deprived of even freedom of expression.

It underlined the need to set the ten-point tasks for right media and conduct positive activities.
