Present at the opening ceremony were Choe Thae Bok, Ro Tu Chol, Ri Il Hwan, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Minister of Finance Ki Kwang Ho who doubles as chairman of the Figure-skating Association, Secretary General of the State Physical Culture and Sports Guidance Commission Kim Il Guk, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang, overseas Koreans, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front, representatives of foreign missions and international bodies here and military attaches of foreign embassies here.

Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Yong Hun made an opening address.

Demonstration performance "Great Sun of Songun Korea" was given.

The numbers including "Fortune of Korea" and "Thinking of General" led the audience to feel deep reverence and yearnings for Kim Jong Il who made arduous journey of dedication with iron will and superhuman energy till the last moments of his life.

The audience warmly applauded the performers when they presented beautiful rhythmic and skillful movements.
