Rodong Sinmun Calls for Repeal of SL in S. Korea

Pyongyang, February 19 (KCNA) -- The decades-long history of the "Security Law" (SL) in south Korea is stained with blood shed by innocent people and intertwined with grave crimes of escalating the distrust and conflict between the north and the south and laying a big obstacle in the way of achieving national unity and reunification. Rodong Sinmun Thursday says this in an article, calling for its repeal. It goes on: The SL has become a pronoun of horror in south Korea, the mere mention of which makes even children shudder with horror. It was enforced more fiercely during the tenure of Lee Myung Bak, heinous dictator, and after the present chief executive, daughter of the "yusin" dictatorship, came to power. According to the preliminary data, hundreds of people were arrested by the police on charges of the violation of the SL from 2010 to July last year. More than 206,400 articles were deleted from 2009 to August last year for the mere reason that they were contrary to the SL. The south Korean people are trembling with anger over the reckless acts of the present ruling forces who mercilessly trampled down the bud of democratization that the south Korean people had attained through protracted self-sacrificing struggle, and turned south Korea into the tundra of human rights and the theatre of fascist crackdown. What merits a more serious attention is that the puppet group labeled the just activities of the pro-reunification and patriotic forces as acts following the north and mercilessly cracked down on them, pushing even the north-south relations to a catastrophe. It is shame of the nation and misfortune of the south Korean people that the medieval evil law such as the SL still exists in south Korea in the present age of civilization. The ill-famed, horrible and criminal history of the SL must be ended without delay. |
