President of Sri Lanka Hopes for Stronger Ties of Friendship and Cooperation with DPRK

Pyongyang, March 6 (KCNA) -- Kye Chun Yong, DPRK ambassador to Sri Lanka, presented his credentials to Maithripala Sirisena, president of Sri Lanka, on Feb. 26. The president said that the two countries have long-standing ties of friendship, adding that the Koreans are a diligent and brave people and the DPRK has great scientific and technological potential. He expressed hope that the long-standing friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries would grow stronger in all fields such as politics, economy and culture. Sri Lanka remains unchanged in its consistent stand that the tension on the Korean peninsula should be defused as early as possible and Korea should be reunified through reconciliation and cooperation, dialogue and negotiations, he noted, wishing the Korean people greater success in their struggle to build a thriving nation and reunify the country. |
