It said that the undesired national division has lasted for seven decades, hurting the hearts of Koreans in the north and the south and inflicting unspeakable misfortune and pain to women before any others else.

Distrust and confrontation have escalated between compatriots, and sharp military tension and war danger increased so that a war may break out any moment, it noted.

Calling upon women to usher in the era of reconciliation and cooperation and take the lead in propelling the improvement of the inter-Korean relations, it went on:

Let the Korean women, who value peace more than any others and devoted themselves to improving the north-south relations and reunification, wage a vigorous struggle to defuse war danger and the movement for peace against war to create peaceful environment!

They should thoroughly implement the June 15 joint declaration and October 4 declaration.

Let the Korean women in the north, south and overseas make every effort for national reconciliation and unity, peace and reunification!

Let us make sustained efforts to force Japan to redress all its past crimes including sexual slavery in firm solidarity with the people of different circles at home and abroad as well as Asian countries and international bodies and human rights organizations in the world!

Let all women in the north and the south and overseas join efforts to take the lead in glorifying this significant year marking the 70th anniversary of national liberation as a historic year of achieving national reconciliation and unity and opening a broad avenue to independent reunification!
