Bulgarian Body Laud Righteous Deed of S. Korean

Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- The Bulgaria-Korea Friendship Association carried a commentary titled "Reunification is the desire of the Korean people" in its bulletin on Mar. 10. The commentary referred to the fact that the world media gave publicity to the knife attack on the U.S. ambassador in Seoul by south Korean Kim Ki Jong and that the south Korean authorities threw him behind bars as he called for reunification and protested against war. It went on: It is clear that Kim's deed is not a crime, objectively. He showed the U.S., who divided Korea into two, and the south Korean authorities the Korean nation's struggle to live as the one nation in a reunified country. The Korean people want to shape its destiny on its own without interference by foreign forces. Such a righteous protest as Kim's despite the suppression by the authorities is not the first time in south Korea. We remember many just struggles fought in south Korea such as the April 19 Uprising in which south Koreans toppled the Syngman Rhee regime and the Kwangju Popular Uprising. Therefore, the recent attack on the U.S. ambassador should never be taken as a crime but a protest against the U.S. policy and military presence in south Korea, a stumbling block lying in the way of the Korean nation's reunification. How can the people live in peace wherever the U.S. troops are stationed. |
